Rationale for Choice
What about this topic appeals to you? Why did you choose it?
My topic is going to be the issue of voluntary euthanasia being illegal. I feel that this will be a good topic because I am very interested and I will learn a lot. It appeals to me because of its controversiality on whether it should be legal or illegal to end ones life when they are suffering from a terminal illness.
What do you already know about this subject?
I already know that voluntary euthanasia is illegal in California. However it is legal in many other states and countries. I know that there is a country in Europe building a euthanasia roller-coaster for people who want to end their lives in a euphoric state.
What are you hoping to learn about the subject?
I am hoping to learn why it is illegal and how the process works. I also would like to learn about how the patients' families feel about their loved one wanting to take the path of euthanasia.
What are you most interested in regarding the topic?
I am most interested in learning how terminally ill patients feel about living/not living life. I want to learn about their emotions and health conditions that spark the desire to end their lives.
What potential risks or challenges do you foresee for your project?
A potential risk may be that i cannot write enough about the topic or find a community service position to fulfill the volunteer aspect of the project.
